I love getting out and meeting people for coffee. I’m blessed to be in a city where there is a positively astounding selection of mind-blowing coffee shops to choose from. Quality of coffee aside, why is meeting for coffee a good idea?
1. Get to know the person in a non-threatening environment. Somehow, having lunch with someone is a bigger commitment. It’s easy to drink a cup of coffee, and not get hung up on what you should order. Hold the cup, drink, talk, eye contact, done. What’s scary about that?
2. Convenience. It’s highly possible that not every area or city has quite the selection of coffee shops that we do around here. It’s pretty easy to find a place to meet, as there is one on every corner. I choose my favorite and have even been known to stack appointments so I can stay put. Easy for them, no-brainer for me.
3. It’s like a first date. If it does’t go well, it’s 30-60 minutes out of your life. If it does go well, and you have a lot in common, you may end up talking for a while. Or even meeting over lunch next time.
